Here's some picture of recent soaps i've made
These are intended for the swirled soap swap on The Dish forum. They're scented with a summery watermelon herb fragrance .

Well i'm trying to get my ducks all lined up for the day when i feel ready to officialy open "Mimi & max ,hancrafted soaps and bath luxuries". First thing first , we need insurance which is expensive and hard to find for this line of sales in Quebec. Since my SO is so good at negotiating , i set him on that task while i'm working on presentation and labelling. I'm feeling pressed for time because since we both introduced our respective co-workers to my products ,i've been getting orders which although the product is ready ,everything else isn't. Lets take a deep breath and try to relax... meanwhile lets add some eye candy to this blog ;)

Hi everyone! Welcome to my new blog . A little about me to start : i'm a french-canadian from Montreal/Quebec , land of the cold ,snow ,the Quebec Carnival , maple sirup and poutine.
I have a wonderful 13 yr old son ,an english speaking SO and of course Charlie the shi tzu.
I work as a registered nurse for a private agency ,which is really cool because i get to work with different types of patients and environments. I've been a nurse for 15 yrs now and although its a very hard job , i still find it immensely rewarding.
Now life is not always about work and i come from a very artistic family. My father started out as a hairdresser for women back in the sixties and has tried his hand at sewing, knitting ,crochet and was a succesful painter. I also have an uncle who is a scultor. My son already shows promise at drawing and music. I must say i was always envious of all these creative people in my life although i am the best in the kitchen lol. I've tried my hand at alot of things over the yrs (knitting ,macrame(in the 80's) ,sewing ...) but nothing ever quite fit until last yr...
Soapmaking! That is the perfect fit for a nerd like me . I get to use all those chemistry lessons that i enjoyed so much and combine it with a spark of creativity to create something useful and beautiful .
And we get to the reason for this blog . Despite my resistance , family, friends and co-workers have been after me to start selling my soaps. I was not feeling confident enough about my recipes and products until recently. There is so much to learn yet but i've been getting consistant results which i know people enjoy. So I'm in the process of building a soapmaking business. It'll take a while yet because there's so much involved when starting something like this in canada. And i dont have any outside funding so its taking me a bit longer to accumulate stocks, packaging adn stuff.
We've finally settled on a name "Mimi&max" and i have my son working on a logo with me . The name has special meaning for me ,max is my son Maxime ,and Mimi stands for Micheline, my recently deceased mother. For her i plan on having a product on my site for which part of the sale will go to the breast cancer fondation. She was my hero and biggest supporter and i will always miss her...
I'm hoping you will come back to visit often, so until next time ,keep safe and enjoy a handmade bar of soap ;)
